Located on the central Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoi An Museum is one of the must-visit destinations if you want to gain a deeper understanding of the history of this land. Established on November 10, 1989, the museum covers an area of about 800 m² and houses hundreds of valuable original artifacts along with many vivid historical documents and images.
It is not only a place that records the transformation of Hoi An - from its early days, through its prosperous period as a bustling international trading port, to the present - but also the clearest testament to its unique and long-standing local culture.

The museum space carries a distinct ancient charm, with three floors harmoniously designed in the architectural style of the old town. From the very first moment you step inside, you will feel a solemn and historic atmosphere, as if you were slowly traveling back to Hoi An centuries ago.
The Hoi An Museum is located within the Hoi An Ancient Town area, about 30 km south of Da Nang and it takes around 45 – 60 minutes to get there. There are several transportation options you can choose from:
Hoi An was once the cradle of many revolutionary movements, most notably the establishment of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League in October 1927, the precursor of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
This gallery preserves numerous documents, artifacts, and photographs from that arduous period of struggle, reflecting the patriotism and indomitable spirit of the people of Hoi An. Every photo and every object recalls a glorious chapter in the city's history.
This gallery recreates the journey of Hoi An rising after the country’s reunification in 1975, when local people overcame countless difficulties to restore production and rebuild their lives. More than 100 artifacts and photographs vividly reflect the diligent and persistent daily work of Hoi An residents, from simple tools to traditional handicraft activities, all contributing to shaping the town as it is today.

Located on the top floor, the painting gallery is a unique artistic highlight of the museum. Here, you will find paintings of Hoi An created with various materials such as oil paint, pastel, charcoal and watercolor.

Each artwork offers a distinct perspective - sometimes vibrant with the colors of festivals, sometimes quiet and contemplative in the rainy afternoons of the old town - allowing visitors to experience the beauty of Hoi An through the emotional lens of the artists.
With an area of just about 800 m² yet holding a vast treasure of knowledge, the serves as a “time portal” that takes visitors back to the early days of the prosperous Hoi An trading port.
