From there, board a train to Dong Hoi, with fares starting around 247,000 VND for a soft seat and 317,000 VND for a sleeper berth. 

The train journey lasts roughly 6–7 hours. Once you arrive in Dong Hoi, take a bus or taxi to Phong Nha, which adds another 1–1.5 hours (about 35,000–60,000 VND). For the best timing, catch a morning train from Da Nang so you can arrive in Phong Nha by late afternoon — just in time to enjoy the sunset over the limestone mountains.
